Winter 2023 -2024 at Cambridge Bay, Canadian High Arctic
The intensive field campaign conducted at Cambridge Bay, in the Canadian high arctic, was a success!
We monitored the daily evolution of the snowpack, from formation to melting, from September 2023 to May 2024. We were hosted and supported by the Canadian High Arctic Station. This campaign included X-ray tomography of the snowpack, SnowMicroPen, and other standard field measurements. The tomograph was shipped from Grenoble to Cambridge Bay for the purpose, and an automatic weather station was set up on site.
We acquired a unique time series of 3D images of the snow microstructure of the snowpack during a full winter, together with the temporal evolution of atmospheric and other snowpack properties.
The field work was done by teams of two. Lisa Bouvet, Marie Dumont, Pascal Hagenmuller, Oscar Dick, Louis Vedrine, Laurent Arnaud (IGE), Kévin Fourteau, Mathieu Fructus, Yves Lejeune, Jacques Roulles, Julien Méloche (Univ. Sherbrooke), Daniel Kramer (Univ. Sherbrook), and Neige Calonne carried out the field measurements during this campaign.
